Having experienced God's love, grace and healing
power in our lives, we continue on our spiritual journey individually
and collectively
as a community of faith -- by bringing that experience to others.
The essence of Social Justice is expressed in a hymn that is familiar
to all of us at MCCSF, "Our Daily Bread" --
"To go from here and share this love you've given me, To
show the ones who are lost and help them find the way, The way
to truth and love, so they can be free . . ."
-
Outreach and service to people in need who live among
us -- people who are homeless, in crisis, living with HIV/AIDS,
struggling with
chemical dependency or other addictions.
-
Building community in our neighborhood and across
neighborhoods;
strengthening the bonds among churches, schools and other community
organizations.
-
Speaking out on social and political issues shaping
the city and the nation (especially those issues affective the gay,
lesbian,
bisexual and transgender communities).
-
Bringing an end to racism and homophobia by building bridges
of understanding and respect, creating a society that embraces
diversity.
-
Participation in the global community and understanding
our connection to it, promoting peace, economic justice and human
rights.
-
Environmental awareness and advocacy, protecting and bringing
healing to the earth.
