Sunday Services at MCCSF

Celebrating our Rich Spiritual Diversity

Sunday Services at 11:00am and 7:00pm

MCC San Francisco celebrates our rich spiritual diversity with two Sunday worship services.

On Sundays at 11:00am our worship experience honors this community's historical roots in the progressive Christian tradition while keeping our longtime commitment to the work of inclusivity, justice and healing.

Together we explore the cycles of the Christian liturgical year within a queer theological context. From Advent to Lent, Easter to Pentecost, and through the many seasons of the year this faith community cultivates our intellectual study of religion and delves into our spiritual depths.

We sing hymns, offer sermons on a variety of topics that impact our spirituality and lives, and celebrate communion at a completely open table each week.

On Sundays at 7:00pm our worship transforms into an exciting exploration of the many faith traditions of this "house of prayer for all people and home for queer spirituality." It is not uncommon to have Buddhists, Pagans, Jews, Christian, and those for whom no label would fit.

MCC San Francisco is a spiritual community which affirms that you are beloved! We serve as a witness of God's radically inclusive love as "a home for queer spirituality."

MCC San Francisco is part of the Metropolitan Community Churches, an international denomination that embraces lesbians, gay men, bisexual and transgender persons, along with their families, friends, and advocates.

We hope to see you soon!

Gathering Words by Rev. Lea Brown, January 24, 2010

All: In every time, in every place, among every people on Earth, we have always been, and we will always be.

One: We are mariposa and marimacha in Spanish, Finnochio in Italian, Mahu in Tahitian, Vom Anderen Ufer in German, Nadle in Navajo, Winkte in Sioux, Agokwa in Chippewa, and the deity Ardhanaarishvara in Hindi.

All: In every time, in every place, among every people on Earth, We have always been, and we will always be.

One: We are the queers and the fairies, the bulldykes and bulldaggers, all names of derision we have reclaimed by our power. We are the priests and priestesses, the shamans and witches, the sorcerers of Spirit who bridge many worlds.

All: In every time, in every place, among every people on Earth, we have always been, and we will always be.

One: We are the word-bearers and word-sculptors, creators of beauty and bearers of justice. We are Sappho and Apollo, Queen Christina and Joan of Arc. We are Michelangelo and Audre Lorde, David and Jonathan, Leslie Feinberg and Oscar Wilde. We are Walt Whitman and Bayard Rustin, Judy Grahn and Adrienne Rich, we are each and every person at MCCSF.

All: In every time, in every place, among every people on Earth, we have always been, and we will always be.

One: We are the people of purple, drag queens and drag kings, transfolks and genderqueers, amazons and eunuchs. We are Femmes who were leather and proud faggots who wear lace, we are the friends of Dorothy, and the flaming friends of God.

All: In every time, in every place, among every people on Earth, we have always been, and we will always be.

Diverse beliefs. Common values. A home for queer spirituality.
