Taizé

Taizé: Prayer At the Heart  – Wednesday at 7:00pm
1300 Polk Street (at Bush)

The worship tradition of our weekly Wednesday night service began many years ago in the ecumenical French monastic community called Taizé. In this tradition, worship is a time of quiet meditation, reflection, hearing God’s word, and singing prayer.

We have adapted this tradition at MCC San Francisco, ever embracing transformation in worship as we seek transformation in ourselves and in our world.

Sing, light candles, pray, or meditate: you are invited to participate as the Spirit moves you.

There is repetition in the words of the music, there are many periods of silence, and the readings are read slowly—all so that we may have a deep quiet grow in our hearts. Then we may be still and be at peace in the presence of God.

The first Wednesday of every month is a healing Taizé service, and Reiki sessions are provided by the Flesh and Spirit Community following the service. Please visit their website to sign up for a Reiki session.

We are a spiritual community which affirms that you are beloved! We serve as a witness of God’s radically inclusive love as “a home for queer spirituality.”

MCC San Francisco is part of the Metropolitan Community Churches, an international Christian denomination that embraces lesbians, gay men, bisexual and transgender persons, along with our families, friends, and advocates.
