Call for Lay Delegate Applications
posted October 14, 2013
Are you interested in serving MCCSF as a Lay Delegate to the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC)?
Candidates must be members in good standing with MCCSF, demonstrating a commitment to the church through regular worship attendance, financial support, volunteer service, and participation in church activities.
Lay Delegates have the responsibility to attend and to effectively represent our congregation at General Conference. Lay Delegates report to the congregation the highlights of the conference at the Congregational Meeting following Conference. The next General Conference will be held July 4-8, 2016 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
Lay Delegates also support our relationship with the UFMCC by participating in every gathering of our Regional Network. It is the Lay Delegate’s responsibility to see that the information flow between the Fellowship (UFMCC), Network, and local congregation is both timely and accurate throughout their term office. As such Lay Delegates must be able to communicate effectively in person as well as by email and phone.
Two Lay Delegates will be elected for three-year terms (January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2016) at the Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 24, 2013. Two Alternate Lay Delegates will also be elected to fulfill the responsibilities of Lay Delegates when they cannot attend required meetings.
TO APPLY:
Review the Lay Delegate Manual, complete the application and submit it to the Board Clerk at mccsfboard@gmail.com, no later than Tuesday 5 pm, October 29, 2013.
